Four Counties Laning. Saturday 15th September.

Postby timberjohn » Sun Sep 09, 2018 9:50 pm

Hi all,

I have been putting together a route which takes in four counties, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset & Somerset. I had intended it as a club event but due to time restrictions we have not been able to pre-drive it and as some of the lanes will be seasonally closed from the end of this month it will not be possible as a club event. However the opportunity has come up for me to drive it or maybe part of it next Saturday. I would be happy to have the company of two members/trucks if anyone is interested. Please note all terrain tyres and a snorkel should be considered a minimum requirement for this route I will have the usual recovery gear but if you have your own you should bring it. As the route is un-tested we might not necessarily be able to drive all of it but if we were able to it totals 105 miles so a long day.

The start point is just outside of Downton on the A338 south of Salisbury with the finish, if we drive it all being just east of Sparkford on the A303.

If you're interested please post here and I'll PM you with the exact start point, a 10am start time would suit me well. :gr8:

Note it will be a first come first served basis.

Have a good holiday Bill, I'm hopeful this will be a good route, if so we could run it again as a club event in the spring when the seasonally closed lanes are open again.

Hi Dirk, great to hear from you. :gr8: Will see how it works out, may work well as a weekend if we start further east, add in some more lanes in Hampshire and some in Surrey as well.
