More problems

Post by mudmagnet » Thu Jan 28, 2016 11:38 am

Driving back from Slindon last Sunday and all of a sudden there was a screeching noise and a rumbling sound
I have checked for stones stuck in the brakes and all the belt pulleys run smooth and new belt fitted
The noise is only while driving and goes away when put in neutral while moving
No noise if revved while stationary but starts screeching as soon as I start driving
Both props OK front one has all new bearings
Think a can of petrol may be in order
i'm so skint i cant even pay attention

Is it when driving at all speeds?

I get a very strange noise around 55mph

Found out what it was
A stone was stuck in the double cardan part of the front prop and has destroyed the bearing
Now looking to fit a 300tdi front prop instead, just need to change the transfer box flange
i'm so skint i cant even pay attention

Don't do it Gav. Carry on fixing one thing after another and wondering what's going wrong next. At least you'll have the happy knowledge that you are a Land Rover owner.

Or go to the dark side and live happily ever after

Gav, don't listen to them Mate.
Buy a gun and go out and shoot it. When you've finished, come over to me and shoot mine too.
I got a truck and no one's trying to kill me, its a good day.
