yup ...
check the front and rear chassis cross members ... (they are the first to go)

will probably be a good idea to replace the cam belt and give it a damned good service

the 3.1's are pretty much bulit proof ...fantastic motors, great pulling power, and mega reliable (and that has nothing to do with the fact that my frontera has the same engine)

most of the maintenance is pretty much straight forward ....but keep an eye on the front & rear cross-members.

also watch the brake/fuel lines that go over the rear springs (that's where the mud collects and it's difficult to get at)

Mine seems to be in the workshop a fair bit, but it does get a lot of abuse. I'm sure if i used it normally it would be fine if it was only green laned.

I have been through 2 engines, and 6 turbos in 2 years, but this is not normal. As Red said, the engines are fairly bullet proof, just watch the chassis, especially if its a import.

One word of advise .... Don't get a 3.0 diesel if it hasn't had the recal work done on it.

also the Vauxhaul Montery is just a rebadged trooper :gr8:

keep an eye on the front and rear cross members as they seem to rust very quick

On the 3.0 tdi, Isuzu have been pretty good on the recalls and the repairs, but the seem to be reigning that in now, just something to be aware of, as some have had their problems.

This one had a brand new engine in it

In my honest opinion the 3.1td is the most reliable engine ...

if the 3.0 has had all the recall work done ...it should be ok. ...
