No worries, I haven't killed anyone in ages

In short it will be a rapid deployment, self contained wireless CCTV truck. Anyone who's had there tent robbed at a festival/event will know there is a demand for this both for gathering evidence, deterrent and H&S. High Def and controllable infra red cameras on the rack. Wireless cameras positioned around site sending images back to the truck via digital radio and monitor from the truck or forward on to the organisers management suite. It will also be able to send voice data over IP to keep people informed, public address if you like.

Now then where's my Walther PPK 7.65mm? ;)

After much ado Electrical design has been completed and truck goes in for a final bit of tidying before being fitted out. However whilst the pto winch has been overhauled the fairy lead has seen better days....any tips on a good supplier for a replacement?

After being temporarily being taken out of active service mechanical and body overhaul is now complete. All the goodies for the electrical hook up and extruded aluminium for the equipment housings have been sourced and completion of the fit out should be finished by 3rd week June.

Unfortunately of the six companies I have spoken with none came up with the goods for the electrical design and delivery. Luckily my mate who judges the Isle of Man Electrical Superbike Challenge got fed up with me moaning about it down the pub and has done the biz with the design. :gr8:

Agreed, and I'm really not a Defender fan. I'm guessing its ex-Hydro Electric/Scottish & Southern judging by the Perth number plate.

Thanks Red.

The LR already had a split charging system built in by LR Special Vehicles, but we suspect this was a simple generator enabled relay and chose not to use this.

The split charging system consists of three 86AH leisure batteries, the 120AH engine battery and a Merlin Smartbank split charge control system (as used in ambulances and military vehicles see http://www.merlinequipment.com/index.asp). Rather than use a diode to separate the battery banks the Smartbank system uses a relay and senses the voltage of the two banks. The advantage is that the engine battery contributes to the overall energy capacity until the system measures that the remaining charge is falling below a set-point, and then isolates the engine battery to ensure sufficient starting power. A dash mounted display unit shows % charge remaining, and engine and auxiliary battery voltages. We have connected a warning alarm when the auxiliary batteries fall below a preset level to warn the operator to connect an AC hook up, start a generator or start the engine to maintain power to the electronic systems. If the engine battery becomes flat due to leaving the vehicle headlamps on for example, then a push button on the display will connect the auxiliary batteries to the engine battery and effectively jump start the engine. One last thing, the system is self calibrating, as it is used it learns the battery bank capacity and condition, and adjusts the % charge remaining display to be more accurate.

We have also included an onboard 50A multi-stage battery charger, and regulated power supply units to protect the sensitive electronics from spikes, noise and excessive charging voltages. Flood and interior lighting is by high intensity LED technology.

The Hookup is done inside the locker so no one can come along and unplug, good idea by the designer :gr8:

Seconded... My LWb runs those now, they are pretty quiet for a mud tyre, behave nicely on tarmac, and do the business offroad too.

As for the LR, it does look like a very well done job, top marks sir...
